ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Barbara Espinosa Occhino loves to write non-fiction stories that are heartwarming, uplifting, and humorous. She approaches her work with curiosity and gratitude, always eager to learn. Born in Cuba, her narratives are inspired by the people and places that have colored her life in the United States and abroad. Click here for writing credits.

Barbara is honored to be published in five Chicken Soup for the Soul books as well as magazines and other print media. She has been a featured author at live storytelling events in Manhattan, has been interviewed on the radio and online segments, and conducted readings and book signings at Barnes & Noble, bookstores, and private events. Barbara is currently working on a children's picturebook series. 

As an experienced public speaker, Barbara is booked for Author Talks and Writing Workshops, sharing tips and resources to inspire participants to pen their stories. Her professional writing credits include public relations, television, and marketing efforts for Fortune 500 companies, government, and private industry. She is an adjunct professor at the Connecticut State Community College, teaching entrepreneurship, marketing, and writing.  

Barbara is a volunteer student mentor, a multilingual singer at elderly and memory-care residences, and enjoys theater and dance. She lives in Stamford, Connecticut, where she co-owns a marketing agency with her husband. Barbara treasures time with her family, including two daughters and four grandchildren. 

Barbara's nonfiction stories are published in the Chicken Soup for the Soul books. The series has sold more than 500 million copies worldwide, with over 400 titles translated into 43 languages, and several on the New York Times #1 bestseller list.
